Help out at the 2019 Annual Pancake Brunch Fundraiser!

Thank you for being willing to volunteer for CTUL’s annual Pancake Brunch! We have finished our $1.65 million Raise Worker Voice Capital Campaign, so come celebrate, contribute to CTUL’s ongoing organizing for low-wage worker justice, and eat some pancakes! Below you’ll find a variety of roles needed throughout the morning.

Volunteer Roles for Brunch, Saturday, March 2:

Morning Prep Cook

  • 7:00am – 9:15am (5 people)
  • Responsibilities: Finalize the preparation of the baked goods, package food for transport for the day of the pancake brunch, heat up water, and work with head chef to setup the buffet.


Compostador

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (2 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (2 people)
  • Responsibilities: Make sure that only compost goes in the compost. Visitors will scrape off their plates and put their dirty dishes on a cart. Run compost to designated area when full.

Runner/Floater

  • 8:30 am  – 11 am (2 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (2 people)
  • Responsibilities: Anything! Fill in as needed preparing and serving food, checking-in attendees, or whatever is needed at the moment. Floaters will be help with replenishments of items  the day of if they run out of stock, and to “think of the fly” when potentially running to either Kitchen Depot or Costco.

Line Cooks

  • 8:30 am – 11 am (1 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (1 people)
  • Responsibilities: Assist head chef with making food (pancakes) as needed during the pancake brunch on March 2nd. The majority of prep will be done the night before.

Greeters

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (2 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (2 people)
  • Responsibilities: Greet people and direct visitors towards the elevator or stairs that lead to the brunch in the gymnasium. Direct visitors to bathrooms. Direct volunteers to volunteer check in.

Registration

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (7 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (7 people)
  • Responsibilities: Register people and check people off the list as needed. Welcome people and tell them about the event and the space.

Busser

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (6 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (6 people)
  • Responsibilities: Bring pitchers of water and juice to the tables. Clean up dishes and any broken glass or garbage around the gymnasium. Keep tables clean.

Dishwasher

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (2 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (2 people)
  • Responsibilities: Use a commercial dishwasher (it’s helpful if you’ve used one before, but if not necessary – we’d be happy to show you). Work with another volunteer to rinse, load, and return dishes back to dining area during the event.

Swag Table

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (2 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (2 people)
  • Responsibilities: Sell CTUL merchandise to attendees.  

Donation Runners (Fundraising Team)

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (5 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (5 people)
  • Responsibilities: Solicit and collect donations and pledges. Be bold and encourage people to donate.

Parking

  • 8:45 am  – 11 am (3 people)
  • 10:45 am – 1 pm (3 people)
  • Responsibilities: Volunteers will be outside to direct visitors where to park and help them find the entrance.

Cleanup

  • 12:45 pm – 3:30 pm (12 people)
  • Responsibilities: Make sure everything is sanitized, cleaned, and put away. Volunteers will clean up gymnasium, kitchen, and food area.

Volunteer Roles Day Before Brunch, Friday, March 1:

Setup

  • 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm (7 people)
  • Responsibilities: Setting up the dining area, the registration table and decorations.

Night Prep Cooks

  • 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm (4 people)
  • 6:00 pm  – 9:00 pm (4 people)
  • Responsibilities: Assemble all necessary ingredients for the morning prep team to finalize recipes in the morning. Most of the prep work will be done during this time and will be followed up with the morning prep crew finalizing the baked goods.
