Fast food workers and retail janitors who work for contracted companies cleaning stores like Macy’s walked out on strike, demanding $15, paid sick days, fair scheduling and an end to wage theft in our jobs and in Minneapolis.

Over 250 striking workers and community allies came out for the picket line at 5:30am in front of the McDonald’s at University and Broadway in Northeast Minneapolis:

Striking fast food workers and retail janitors marched from the McDonald’s in NE Minneapolis to Macy’s in Downtown Minneapolis in the #ReclaimOurStreets: Working Families March, demanding $15, paid sick days, fair scheduling and an end to wage theft in our jobs and in Minneapolis

By the time the the march made it to the Macy’s in Downtown Minneapolis, there were over 500 striking workers and community allies. Here are some of the photos of the picket against cleaning companies with striking retail janitors outside of Macy’s

Striking workers then marched with hundreds of low-wage workers from across the city to Minneapolis City Hall, demanding $15, paid sick days, fair scheduling, and an end to wage theft in our jobs and in Minneapolis.
