Fast Food Lead Organizer 

CTUL seeks to hire for a Lead Organizer in the Fight for $15 national campaign organizing fast food workers in coordination with organizations in many cities that have participated in a series of coordinated strikes and other workplace actions to win $15/hour and a Union as well as a voice on the job. This position will require a lot of initiative and the ability to work very independently to build power with fast food workers locally at CTUL while working with nationally coordinated actions to transform the fast food industry.   • Bilingual – Spanish / English
  • Have a passion for organizing workers
  • Always do the work with the goal of completing the mission of CTUL
  • Take initiative to develop your own leadership to complete your work
  • Have a car
  • Have a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends
  • Previous organizing experience is required (how many years)
  • Previous experience as a supervisor is helpful but NOT necessary if you are responsible, motivated and willing to learn
  • Previous experience working in fast food is helpful but NOT necessary


Lead Fast Food Team (25% of time)

  • Engage on weekly national calls to coordinate national strategy
  • Develop local strategy with Co-Directors to win local victories with workers
  • Create new strategic ideas about how to move the campaign forward
  • Develop goals with teammate and hold them accountable to individual goals
  • Be prepared to agitate and be agitated by team with the aim of holding ourselves accountable and performing


Fast Food worker organizer (65% of work)

  • Look for workers at work and at their homes
  • Set up 1-1 meetings with workers identified at work, and through other contacts
  • Listen and understand the interests of each worker in your area
  • Motivate and agitate workers to fight
  • Be persistent obtaining commitments from workers
  • Identify potential leaders
  • Develop leadership
  • Get workers to take action including work stoppages/strikes
  • Develop meeting agendas and facilitate meetings to engage fast food workers


Miscellaneous work and leadership development of CTUL’s general base (10% of time)

  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as part of the team that develop leadership with all workers in CTUL’s base.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary – $38,625
  • Vacation – 3weeks
  • Pension – Additional 5% of salary to go toward pension
