In Minnesota’s non-union construction industry, workers estimate that 1 in 4 jobs won’t pay them their full wage. This is unacceptable in an industry where workers risk their lives to build our communities and infrastructure while large developers profit.
Fidel Martinez Vasquez, CTUL member, was owed over $23,000 in unpaid wages in 2020 after working on a demolition project rebuilding Lake Street in Minneapolis. Fidel united with other workers with CTUL to fight for his wages earlier this year and won. Together when workers have a voice, unite, and organize, we can put an end to wage theft in the construction industry.
