Allies from St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Shir TikVah, and other congregations joined together yesterday outside of the office of United Properties in Downtown Minneapolis, calling on the company to join the Building Dignity and Respect (BDR) Program to ensure that all construction workers on their projects are treated with basic dignity and respect.
Despite the wind gusts and chilly temperatures, allies stood in solidarity with construction workers calling for workers dignity from their respective faith traditions.
Worker leader and CTUL board member Lisa Guerra shared her and her husband Douglas’ story as construction workers who’ve faced wage theft.
Between speakers, we sang together songs from the South African Anti-Apartheid and American Civil Rights Movement.
Special thanks to the leaders at St. Joan’s, Holy Trinity, and Shir TikVah!
