From September 7 – 14, construction workers and allies are leading a Week of Action, calling on multi-family developers Solhem, Yellow Tree and United Properties to take steps to ensure basic dignity and respect for construction workers in the Twin Cities metro area.
Check out the launch of the Week of Action below and join us on Tuesday, September 12, 4:00 – 6:00pm: “Nothing Gets Built Without These Hands: March for Dignity and Respect”.

This morning 20 workers and allies launched the Week of Action by delivering around 500 petition signatures to the corporate offices of the three developers.

CTUL member Ernesto Dominguez spoke with a representative of United Properties, letting them know that we have been trying to reach the company for nearly two years, but our calls have been ignored. Ernesto invited United Properties to step into their leadership in the community by standing with workers and by joining the Building Dignity and Respect (BDR) Program.

Unfortunately, the representative of Solhem closed the door on CTUL member Douglas Guerra and the rest of our delegation, refusing to listen or accept the petition. We left a copy of the petition on their door.

As we left Solhem, they closed the blinds on every window of the office, seemingly turning a blind eye to the reality that workers face on their projects.

Last, the delegation went to Yellow Tree, where representatives of the company once again closed the door on us, refusing to listen or accept the petitions. We left the signatures on a desk, and left to prepare for the rest of the Week of Action.
